Periodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with treating periodontal disease or supporting apparatus of the tooth.

Factors that influence the occurrence of periodontal disease: - poor oral hygiene - brushing incorrectly - protruding filling and inadequate contact between the teeth - inadequate rehabilitation of vacant space after tooth extraction - soft and hard deposits on teeth tartar - irregular occlusal relation - bad habits alcohol, smoking, biting hard objects, pipe smoking, etc - genetic factors.

Preventive procedures and regular check-ups are aimed at preventing the occurrence of periodontal disease in our nation known as periodontitis, and after successful completion of periodontal therapy, these actions serve to the maintenance of oral health.
